Match Information
What Is It? In 2005 and 2006, the Randolph County Ruckus was the SASS sanctioned Illinois State Championship. The largest SASS State Championship in the United States two years running, it was hosted and organized by the members of the Prairie State Cowboy Action Shooting Association, Inc.
For 2007, we were proud to sponsor three days of shooting, partying, and all-around cowboy fun in a new match, The Midwest Classic, to benefit Illinois Quail Unlimited. Now here it is 2008 and we are proud to sponsor this event once again.
The primary purpose of this match is a fundraiser for Quail Unlimited. All of the profits of this match will be donated to Illinois Quail Unlimited to be used for wildlife habitat improvements in the Midwest. Quail Unlimited, Inc. is a non-profit conservation organization dedicated to the wise use and management of America’s wild quail, doves, upland game birds, and other forms of wildlife.
When Is It? This new match is scheduled for April 25 - 27, 2008. Side matches will be held on Friday, April 25, 2008 with six main stages on Saturday, April 26, 2008, and four main stages on Sunday, April 27, 2008. The awards presentation will also be held on Sunday afternoon upon completion of the day’s shooting activities.
What Else You Need to Know: All the usual cowboy action shooting (CAS) rules will apply unless superseded by any published local rule. Any round over the berm constitutes a Match Disqualification.
The ammo count for the main match will be approximately 100 rifle rounds, 100 pistol rounds, and 50+ shotgun shells. Scoring will be by total time.
Volunteer members of Illinois Quail Unlimited will be assisting each stage by picking up brass and keeping score. Qualified shooters will still serve as Range Officers, Posse Leaders, and Spotters.
All side-matches will include separate Men’s and Women’s divisions. Side events include, Speed Pistol, Speed Shotgun, Speed Rifle, Wild Bunch, and Texas Death Star. We will also have a The two man state side match, click HERE for the scenerio
Side-matches will be $1.00 each. Each shooter’s paid entry will include two FREE side-match entries. Shooters may re-enter side-matches as often as they like. All winners of each side-match will be chosen at random to pick from the “Prize Pool Table”.
A drawing will be held for a Limited Edition “Midwest Classic” side-by-side shotgun. Chances for this drawing may be purchased with a donation of $5.00 per chance or three chances for a $10.00 donation.
The Saturday night banquet will also include an auction for several western items plus more raffles will be held.
